Heading north west to represent HEY.

An early start this morning as I set off for Liverpool to attend my first Transport for the North (TfN) Board meeting. All northern Mayors, plus council leaders of areas without a Combined Authority, will be discussing recent progress including potential bids to government to develop the north’s major road network. There’s a lot of focus on east-west rail connectivity, especially the Leeds to Manchester line, so it’s important to be at the table to ensure TfN colleagues recognise the importance of extending plans to incorporate our region.

Tomorrow I am back across to the north west, for the industry-leading Housing 2025 Conference in Manchester. Affordable housing is a real priority for me, so as well as speaking on a panel with six other Mayors, I will be aiming to meet major developers. It’s also a great opportunity to learn more about the latest developments in the private and social housing markets.

Back here for the rest of the week, with a packed diary of meetings, and on Thursday, HEYCA’s first AGM.
