Health is shaped by where we live and our local needs.

Our goals for Hull and East Yorkshire are -

  • Increase healthy life expectancy across all communities.
  • Reduce gaps in health outcomes between neighbourhoods.
  • Encourage everyday activity and access to green spaces.
  • Link health, housing, transport and employment.

Good health underpins everything. It allows people to go to work, support their families, get involved in their community and enjoy life.

Across Hull and East Yorkshire, people live in different places and circumstances. Every community has its own strengths and faces different challenges. Our aim is to make everyday life healthier for everyone. That means safer streets, good quality homes and better transport links.

We will focus on prevention, working with the NHS, councils and employers to keep people well and in work, reducing pressure on public services. That includes support for mental health, occupational health and simple workplace adjustments.

Sport and activity will be part of daily life, with stronger grassroots clubs and better walking and cycling routes. Improved access to green spaces and our natural environment can support our physical activity and mental wellbeing.

By working to improve health across Hull and East Yorkshire, we can unlock new opportunities, boost productivity and a better future for our region.

What we have already done

Since May 2025, Mayor Campbell and the Combined Authority have -

  • Completed the first Get Hull and East Yorkshire Working Plan, bringing together partners to get more residents into work.
  • Opened conversations with Sport England, the Football Foundation and local partners to explore ways of boosting physical activity.
  • Developed roundtables that bring partners together to discuss a range of topics, including how to support young people in the region to meet their potential.
