A strong local economy depends on good jobs.

Our goals for Hull and East Yorkshire are -

  • Help businesses grow and create skilled local jobs.
  • Support training and lifelong learning for all ages.
  • Improve pay, job security and career progression.
  • Attract new investment and innovation to our ports, towns and city.

Hull and East Yorkshire has a proud tradition of making, building and innovating. From manufacturing and engineering to food production and tourism, we have a mix of industries that give our region a unique strength and resilience.

We want to ensure everyone has access to opportunities, regardless of where they live. Our goal is to create more high-quality jobs in every community – in our city, towns and coast – and help local people gain the skills they need to succeed.

We will work closely with employers, schools, colleges and universities to ensure training matches the jobs that are currently available, as well as the jobs coming in the future. Whether supporting a young person to join the workforce or an experienced worker retraining for a new industry, everyone should have a clear route to a rewarding career.

By supporting investment in innovation, digital technology and modern workplaces, we can build an economy that works for everyone and keeps talent here in Hull and East Yorkshire.
