Hull and East Yorkshire Combined Authority

Luke will meet with investors, developers, and businesses across all sectors looking to establish or enhance their presence in Hull and East Yorkshire.

The newly elected Mayor of Hull and East Yorkshire is taking his campaign for more investment and opportunities for the region to a major gathering of political and business leaders, attended by thousands of potential investors from across the world.

Mayor Luke Campbell MBE will represent the region at the three-day UKREiiF (Real Estate Investment and Infrastructure Forum) event in Leeds, starting today (Tuesday 20 May).

It is described as “the must-attend event for the real estate, property and infrastructure sectors.”

As well as hosting delegates on the Hull City Council stand, the Mayor will also speak at various keynote events.

Mayor Luke said -

“One of my priorities is to be out there nationally and internationally, helping put us on the map and making the case for public and private sector investment here.

“UKREiiF is a great opportunity to build partnerships with existing and new investors, and to highlight the fantastic offer we have here.

“We will be showcasing our very special combination of rural, coastal, urban and industrial locations as somewhere to invest, live, enjoy - and grow successful businesses.

“It’s also an opportunity to highlight the breadth of commercial and residential development opportunities, our outstanding industrial strengths, and the talent and potential of our people.

“Attracting more inward investment will be key to creating prosperity for everyone here, including more opportunities to develop and grow their careers, so we retain our talented people here in Hull and East Yorkshire.

“We believe what we have to offer is unique, building on an already strong reputation in sectors such as agriculture and food, manufacturing, technologies such as medi-tech, agri-tech and digital capabilities, shipping and international trade via our Freeport, new energy and energy security and more.

“Investors and businesses of all types can unlock huge returns here.”

Having already represented the area at the launch of ‘The Great North’, participated in discussions with the Chief Secretary to the Treasury, and met other senior stakeholders, the Mayor is hitting the ground running.

UKREiiF is an intensive event, with more than 16,000 attendees, ranging from FTSE 100 multi-nationals to global investment funds and UK-leading housebuilders.

The Mayor will appear with other high-profile speakers at an event exploring the potential of the region as a whole and specifically the Humber Freeport, with its vision to become a major gateway for global trade.

He will also explore wider partnership opportunities, including at roundtable discussions with fellow elected Mayors and other senior politicians, and at various industry meetings.
