Hull Fengtai dinner

The pace doesn’t stop as HEYCA starts to become more established, but last week I was also able to focus on two specific long-term strategic partnerships.

I was honoured to speak at a special dinner with representatives from Beijing’s financial and business powerhouse Fengtai District. Many thanks especially to Future Humber for organising an in important trip - with huge future opportunities for investment and development.

Mayor and NFU meeting

I also met regional leaders from the National Farmers Union, and underlined my support for the sector, including through our work to highlight the damage that would be caused to thousands of farming jobs if the Vivergo Fuels bioethanol plant is forced to close.

On another positive note, we secured £700k for the two councils to invest in energy and cost saving projects, and launched the Made Smarter Humber and Yorkshire programme, with some £2.4million of grants and support available for manufacturing businesses to progress digital projects.

This week ahead includes our Executive Board, covering topics including Natural England’s proposal for the Yorkshire Wolds to be designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Access the Board papers and how to watch in person of online.
