Mayor welcomes new funding to transform brownfield sites across Hull and East Yorkshire.

Hull and East Yorkshire Combined Authority has secured a major boost to transform brownfield land into thriving new neighbourhoods.

The four-year funding package, worth £21 million, is expected to unlock the delivery of new homes across the region, breathing new life into underused sites.

It will play a key role in supporting regeneration efforts in communities throughout Hull and East Yorkshire by improving local areas and creating places where people can live and work.

By accelerating the development of stalled sites, the Combined Authority aims to attract new investment and drive local economic growth.

Luke Campbell MBE, Mayor of Hull and East Yorkshire, said:

“This is fantastic news for Hull and East Yorkshire. It means we can speed up the delivery of new homes and regenerate areas that’ve been waiting for fresh investment.

“Unlocking these sites creates jobs, grows our economy and opens up better opportunities for people right across our region.”

Brownfield land often presents complex challenges, from contamination to higher construction costs. This funding is designed to tackle those barriers head-on, allowing stalled or unviable sites to move forward.

The Combined Authority is now awaiting further details from the government on the fund. Once confirmed, they will outline how the funding will be used to maximise impact across Hull and East Yorkshire.
