Leaders unite to drive investment, skills and long-term regional growth.
Luke Campbell MBE, Mayor of Hull and East Yorkshire, joined senior business leaders and public sector partners to help shape the future direction of the Humber region.
At a key session of the Humber Leadership Exchange, hosted by Future Humber, delegates explored how greater collaboration can support regional priorities including skills, infrastructure and innovation.
Those attending shared a commitment to strengthening the Humber’s identity and enable the region to attract inward investment, alongside identifying practical actions that can drive long-term growth.
Next week, Hull and East Yorkshire Combined Authority will present its ambitious vision at UKREiiF, demonstrating that the area is open for business and ready to drive change for communities and investors.
Speaking about the event, Mayor Luke said:
“The Humber has all the ingredients to be one of the UK’s leading areas for growth and investment. But to make the most of that opportunity, we need to work together and speak with one voice.
“The message from the government is that too many people and organisations are pulling in different directions, and that weakens our voice. With combined authorities now on both sides of the Humber, we’ve got a chance to change that.
“That’s how we can give businesses the confidence to invest, create better jobs and improve skills for local people, and make sure growth benefits everyone.”
The event also reflects the growing partnership between Hull and East Yorkshire and Greater Lincolnshire through the newly established Humber Growth Board, which aims to strengthen collaboration and enable investment across the Humber.
Mayor Luke will chair the Humber Growth Board in its inaugural year, with the next meeting scheduled for Thursday 25 June.
