We are now seeking an exceptional and strategic leader to join us as Head of Business Growth, Innovation and Inward Investment, leading this agenda at a pivotal moment for the region.
About the Role
Reporting to the Director of Economy, you will lead an integrated economy function spanning business growth, innovation, trade and investment.
You will:
- Lead the development and delivery of HEYCA’s business growth and innovation strategy, aligned to the Mayor’s priorities and Local Growth Plan
- Drive delivery of the four Big Plays, translating strategy into impactful programmes that increase productivity and unlock investment
- Oversee the Growth Hub, ensuring a high quality, joined up offer that supports businesses to start, scale and innovate
- Lead a proactive inward investment and trade function, promoting Hull and East Yorkshire and securing new opportunities
- Shape a strong regional innovation ecosystem, working with universities, industry and partners to accelerate adoption and commercialisation
- Develop sector growth plans across priority industries including energy, manufacturing, ports and logistics and agri food
- Build a strong pipeline of investable opportunities and programmes
- Provide expert advice and briefings to senior leaders, including the Mayor, supporting evidence based decision making
- Lead and develop a high performing team, ensuring strong delivery, governance and value for money
- Represent HEYCA at regional, national and international level, influencing policy, funding and partnerships

About you
We are looking for a strategic and collaborative leader who can operate confidently across policy, delivery and partnership environments.
You will bring:
- Senior experience in economic development, business growth, innovation or investment
- A strong understanding of the UK economic development and devolution landscape
- A track record of delivering complex programmes and influencing policy at senior levels
- Experience of working with business, government and partners to drive growth and investment
- Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills
- The ability to translate strategy into delivery and measurable impact
