We are seeking an experienced, creative and organised Strategic Content and Digital Lead Officer to join our Mayoral Office. Reporting to the Chief of Staff, you will lead the development and delivery of the Mayor's digital content, branding and audience engagement activity, ensuring communications effectively promote the Mayor's priorities, initiatives and achievements across digital, social media and stakeholder channels.

About the Role

As Strategic Content and Digital Lead Officer, you will lead the planning and delivery of strategic content, digital communications and integrated marketing campaigns that support the Mayor's priorities and strengthen public engagement.

Working collaboratively with colleagues across communications, engagement, policy and corporate services, you will ensure content is engaging, accessible, audience-focused and aligned with the Combined Authority's strategic priorities. You will oversee the Mayor's digital presence, manage brand consistency and use audience insight to continually improve communications performance.

You will also lead and develop the Social Media Officer and Marketing Officer, ensuring the team delivers high-quality communications that support the Mayor's objectives.

You will –

  • Lead the development and delivery of content strategies that promote the Mayor's priorities, programmes and achievements
  • Oversee the Mayor's digital communications, social media activity and audience engagement across multiple channels
  • Develop and maintain a consistent brand identity, ensuring messaging, tone of voice and visual identity are applied across all communications
  • Plan and coordinate integrated communications and marketing campaigns supporting key initiatives, consultations, events and announcements
  • Use audience insight, analytics and engagement data to monitor performance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to maximise the impact of communications and campaigns
  • Monitor digital trends, public sentiment and reputational risks, providing strategic advice to the Chief of Staff where appropriate
  • Lead, support and develop the Social Media Officer and Marketing Officer, ensuring effective performance and professional development
  • Ensure all communications comply with accessibility requirements, data protection legislation and public sector communications guidance

About You

We are looking for an experienced communications and digital professional with a proven track record of developing content strategies, leading campaigns and engaging audiences across digital platforms.

You will be a confident leader with excellent communication and organisational skills, able to manage competing priorities while building strong relationships with colleagues, partners and stakeholders.

You will bring –

  • Significant experience working in communications, digital engagement, marketing or content development
  • Experience developing and delivering digital content strategies and integrated communications campaigns
  • Experience managing social media platforms and digital communications channels
  • Strong copywriting, content creation and storytelling skills
  • Experience developing and maintaining brand standards and visual identity
  • Experience using digital analytics and audience insight to improve communications performance
  • Experience leading and developing staff within a communications or marketing environment
  • Experience working collaboratively within a complex stakeholder environment
  • Knowledge of digital communications, branding, audience engagement and reputation management
